Positive Pet Dog Training

Toby the JRT from Belchertown and JoAnne

Toby the JRT in Belchertown and JoAnne: “I think about you every time I drive by the spot where we worked with Toby down the road. You were an incredible help to us and we are more than happy to share our experience and our complete amazement with your skills in training a dog we thought was beyond training.”  Toby had such generalized fears that keeping him current on core vaccines was a challenge and boarding him seemed impossible.  He now has a successful history with both!!

Daniela and her pup Alpha from Belchertown

I am just writing to thank you so much for our first lesson yesterday! It gave me hope!  I thought training would be very hard but you made it so easy to understand and apply it! You are calm and clear on your explanations. I think we will have a lot of fun!  Thank you again.

Caren and her dogs Ginger, Gracie and Mimsy

Caryl-Rose has been instrumental in helping me understand how to translate human language to dog. She has trained me to speak to each of my dogs, and to be aware of their differences and idiosyncrasies, as I have worked with her with all three of my dogs. I found that Caryl-Rose gave me confidence with her quiet, non-judgemental style to keep advancing and learn the special strengths of each of my girls. Gracie was training last week at the Holyoke Soldiers Home to be a pet therapy dog. Not too shabby for a Thomas J O’Connor Shelter stray!

Marc and his dog Cheyenne from Russell, MA

“Before working with you, I was lost and anxious about not knowing what to do. Now, thanks to you, a lot of the stress has transformed to agency. What a nice change!!! And neighbors do see our progress. Not long ago, a woman came out when we passed by and her dog was tied out front. I told her not to worry. She gave us the benefit of the doubt, and she saw that it was true, we did not have to be worried. And if I ever get the chance to recommend a dog trainer, you will be the person whose number I give.”

Haley (dog), formerly of Amherst, MA, now living in Seattle, WA

Caryl-Rose is a first rate trainer. She is patient both with owners and dogs and is especially good at fine tuning her training techniques based on her unique  sensitivity about a dog’s needs.

I did both class and individual course work with her years ago and have stayed in touch.  She is both a friend and a superb dog advisor.

I still routinely get compliments about how well trained my dog is. I cannot recommend Caryl-Rose highly enough.

Brenda and her dog Minga from Brattleboro, VT

My pup Minga is a fearful dog. She has made great progress in the 3 years since I rescued her. She was fearful of everything, cars, trucks, loud noises, we have worked through a lot of those through CC/DC. She still has fears that will probably be with her her whole life. I accept that. The ones that I can work through are the ones that are important. Minga was attacked almost a year ago by an off leash dog. The progress that we had made to that point was broken. I tried to put her back into workshops, take her for short stays. She was so very reactive to other dogs that I would walk her very early in the morning or in other places that she would not meet other dogs. Her world had changed, she couldn’t walk on trails that would potentially have unleashed dogs. I became fearful. Then through a great trainer and friend I was introduced to Caryl-Rose, we worked on Minga’s reactivity towards other dogs, I got a new lead, which has helped a lot. BAT teaches you how to loop the lead so you can let it out as your dog progresses. Today was such a great day, after all the work we have done with Caryl-Rose, Minga and I are very good. I feel empowered and confident and most importantly my girl has been given tools to go, sorry not go, but move forward. We still have work to do, but will do that with confidence and your help CR. Great progress with my girl.

Jodi and Lisa from Pelham, MA

Caryl-Rose has been both our and our dog Raji’s teacher since he was months old. Similar to the guidance of a sage, we were taught how to work, and re-work, our training of Raji. He was a tremendous challenge from day one, but his loveliness and true nature was always celebrated. In a few months Raji will be 2 years old, and has grown into an amazing, loving and well behaved animal.  Of course, there are always challenges and ne w focuses with his training, but he completes our life.  Caryl-Rose is intuitive, extremely knowledgeable and very patient with Raji and his ever learning parents….We value her presence in our lives immensely.

Raji leaps with energy! He’s learning more and more control. Always a work in progress…and always deeply loved.

Karen and Gerard from Agawam, MA

Our boxer Lola is about a year and a half now.  She is such a sweet girl.  We were having such a hard time walking her on leash.  She would become very reactive when she would see a person walking alone or a person walking their dog.  Walks were becoming very stressful for both us and Lola.  We were referred to Caryl-Rose by Lola’s daycare.  It has been such a great experience.  She has completely tailored the training to Lola’s needs. Lola has come such a long way in such a short time. Caryl-Rose truly has a passion for what she does!  We are so grateful for her dedication and are blessed to have met her.
